The Orange Frogs do Dinosaurs and Birthdays

It was another week full of learning and fun for the Orange Frogs.  We had a really exciting theme this week:  DINOSAURS!  We had dinosaur stories, dinosaur songs, dinosaur games, and dinosaur videos.  We found out a lot of new things about dinosaurs and had a great time, too!


We continued with the theme "Happy Birthday" in "Happy House."  We learned birthday related vocabulary in our stories with Spike, Ruby and Otto.

First, we listened to the story about Spike's birthday present  and looked at the story cards.

Later, we did a listening worksheet about the story. The worksheet showed Spike and Ruby with an everyday object.  We had to listen to the CD and decide if the object in the picture matched what we heard.  It sounds difficult, but we did just fine.  Then we did a math worksheet. We had to add some candles together and draw the correct number on a birthday cake.

It was time to think about our birthdays. We made our own birthday badges and decorated a birthday cake with candles.  Great work, isn't it?

We did another math worksheet and a "Find the Differences" worksheet, too.  We had to find the dinosaur in each row of four which was different and colour it.

Well, that was a little of what the Orange Frogs did last week. Our new theme this week will be ELEPHANTS.  We will have lots of new pictures and projects to show you next week.

We started the day with an activity. According to that, we had to find the shapes hidden in a castle and find 9 differences between two pictures which needed concentration.

Here we go...

 Shhhh! We are in deep tranquility :)

Here we played a game where we sounded out the animals names and  tried to match the text cards with the suitable pictures. 

  Through trial and error, we did our best.

 Seems we are learning quickly.

Phew!  That was a lot of work to do. We were worn out at the end of the day and deserved some special garden time with friends :)

It has been one of the busiest weeks and we have just finished "Global Warming" theme.  As it is one of the concepts which is hard to understand for kids, we tried to teach it in a more concrete way. So we gave importance to basic fundemantals of global warming such as melting ice caps, climate change, warming of Earth and endangered animals like polar bears and penguins. In this way we enabled kids to perceive the theme better and try to find solutions for preventing global warming.

 This week we also talked about the concepts "inside-outside", while teaching these concepts using hula-hoops was one of the most entertaining ideas. We encouraged them to be active participants. They had so much fun when they were in and out of the hula-hoop. Sure we did not forget to hoop the hula-hoops. At the end, we reinforced these concepts by doing some worksheets.
